  1. All candidates are required to produce their Student Identification Card for checking on admission to the examination venue. The card should be placed on the top right hard corner of the candidate’s desk for scrutiny by the invigilator during the period of the examination.
  2. Candidates are required to comply with the UBD dress code, and may be refused admission to the examination venue if they do not do so. A candidate refused admission to an examination by reason of non-compliance with the UBD dress code may be admitted to the examination venue if they present themselves suitably attired within 30 minutes of the start of the examination (see Regulations 3).
  3. No candidates shall be admitted into the examination venue if he arrives later than 30 minutes after the commencement of an examination.
  4. No candidates may leave the examination venue during the first 30 minutes and the last 30 minutes of an examination. However, a candidate may be permitted to leave the examination venue temporarily at any time if he has the permission of an invigilator and is accompanied at all times by an invigilator or an officer who is present on duty at the examination venue.
  5. A candidate who leaves the examination venue without complying with the requirements of Regulation 4 shall not be readmitted into the examination venue.
  6. A candidate who has to leave the examination venue through feeling unwell and who is unable to return to the venue shall be required to produce a medical report from a registered medical practitioner. When the candidates leaves the examination venue, the examination script should be collected, suitably annotated  and forwarded to the Examination Office, together with the Invigilator’s Report on the incident. If a medical report is received by the Examinations Office within 48 hours of the termination of that particular examination, the candidate shall be awarded an ‘ABS’ grade. If no medical report is received, the candidate should be allocated an ‘IVA’ grade and the provisions of Regulation 16 (in UBD regulations) shall apply.
  7. Smoking shall not be permitted in the examination venue.
  8. No candidate shall be permitted to take any book, paper, document, mobile telephone, personal digital assistant/organizer, handbag, pencil case or any other material (including the yellow examination registration slip) into the examination venue, except for their Student Identity Card (or National Identity Card) pens, pencils, erasers or any other material specifically authorized by the examiner.
  9. A candidates found in possession of any written or printed matter or any other material in the examination venue which has not been authorized by the examiner shall be deemed to have cheated or have attempted to cheat in the examination, and to have committed an offence punishable under these Regulations.
  10. A candidates shall not be permitted to communicate by word of mouth or otherwise with any person other than an invigilator or an examiner during an examination.
  11. A candidate shall not be permitted to take any material from the examination venue except the question paper, if permitted, and his/her personal belongings.
  12. A candidate shall raise his/her hand during an examination if he/she wishes to communicate with an invigilator or an examiner.

UBD ready for new leadership

12 November 2009 (Thursday) – Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) through the UBD Student Affairs Section (UBD SAS) will conduct the election for the new UBD Student Representative Council (UBD SRC) to replace the current UBD SRC which will dissolve before the UBD semester exam starts.

According to the UBD SRC Chief of Election Secretariat who is also the Asistant Registrar of the UBD SAS Dyg.Zalinawati bt Hj.Mohaimin said “The UBD SRC election is held annually where every faculties and academy at UBD will submit their representative to be part of the UBD SRC. First we held the naming of the election candidates which will be choose by the students then after the student which will be choose as part of the UBD SRC we will held an election at their respective faculties”. She also added that the UBD SRC posts which will be vacated are 16 which are made up of 5 senior student posts and 11 executive committee (exco) heads.

The objective of the UBD SRC is to test the student leadership skill and at the same time it will test their limits and knowledge in the management and planning of event. In addition to make the UBD SRC a professional group the UBD SAS also give the UBD SRC an office which is currently situated at the UBD SAS building.

The UBD SRC election secretariat also informed that the naming of the candidates are held last 10 and 11 November 2009 while the election of the new UBD SRC will be held this Saturday 14 November 2009. Students are required to attend and cast their vote at their respective faculties.

Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) new residential college had been towering next to the current male residential college. According to the UBD Estate the new residential college will be completed in the middle of 2010 and will be ready for students in July 2010. The new residential college was built in order to meet the demand of residential college from UBD students which are from Belait, Tutong, Temburong and some parts of the Brunei Muara District.

The residential college is built on 10.5 acre land and will be built complete with new facilities such as student office and centre, cafeteria, warden living quarters and roofed pathways. The concept of each room in the new residential college will be following international standards where UBD use the “apartment” system. Each apartment has 5 rooms, 1 living rooms, 1 kitchen, toilet and bathroom.

The four blocks are divided in section where block A and B will accommodate male students while block B and C will be dedicated for female students. Security features also will be fitted to prevent unwanted incident such as fitting of CCTVs at designated areas, fire extinguishing system will be available at all blocks. UBD estate also added that in order to increase entertainment in the new residential college  a 150 seats theatre hall, gymnasium, game room and also shops.

Last 7 November 2009 Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) through the UBD Student Affairs Section and UBD Student Association (PMUBD) held a Gala and Appreciation night at the Jerudong Park Polo and Riding Club (JPCC).

With bringing the theme “Masquerade Glam” where several attendees wears fancy masks , the gala and appreciation night objective is to appreciate the student who has graduated  from UBD in the recent 21st UBD graduation ceremony. At the same time it is also the last event for the UBD 21ST Convocation Festival. Proceed from the gala and appreciation night ticket selling will be donated to the victims of the natural disasters at Philippines and Indonesia fund.

Present as guest of honor to the event was UBD Assistant Vice Chancellor (Corporate and Administration) Dr.Hj.Junaidi bin Hj.Abd Rahman. Various performances were held during the gala night such as performance from the UBD Got Talent finalist, UBD Korean Culture Club and also special performances from the local artistes such as Hans Anwar, Fakhrul Razi, Putri Norizah, Joe M, Hill and Juju.

The event concluded with the presentation of prizes and mock cheques to the winners  of the UBD Got Talent Finals by the guest of honor which saw Syam at the first place, Roh Zaman band at the second place and TNC group on the third place.

In conjunction with the UBD 21st Convocation and also the Convocation Festival UBD Student Body (PMUBD) with support from UBD Student Affairs Section (UBD SAS) and UBD Estate office held a Safety and Security exhibition where two safety and security agencies exhibit their vehicles and ability.

The UBD Dean of Student Dk.Dr.Nurolaini bt.Pg.Hj.Muhammad Kifli in her closing remarks said “The exhibition are held within the UBD Career Fair 2009 as through our experience that such static exhibits are attracting students to fairs. It is also one of the UBD SAS and student initiative in creating awareness to the students in safety and security issues and at the same it shows that UBD is not only a “Green University” and a safe university to live and study on”. She also added that the UBD Estate office also had arranged fire Marshall and first aid course for the UBD student and staff.

According to the Safety and Security exhibition supervising head committee which is the writer himself said “The exhibition are held to appreciate the safety and security agencies which are involved in tackling the forest fires at UBD during last June and August 2009. In order to appreciate them we offer  them a platform for them to show their services and also career opportunities to UBD students and publics as well”. He also added that the exhibition were inspired from the recent Brunei Darussalam Defence Exhibition 2009 (BRIDEX2009).

The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) exhibit their vehicles which range from the Highway Patrol Vehicle, motorcycle and scooters. While RBPF Marine Police exhibit their latest state of art patrol boats and also the search and rescue and on-shore patrol jet-skis. A marine police personnel said “The visitors are enjoying the show and most of them show their interest in joining the police force. Through this we also can show them what is our role beside patrolling the Brunei water.”

Meanwhile the Brunei Fire and Rescue Department (BFRD) exhibit two fire appliances where one of it is the special fire appliance the Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) tender. According to one of the HAZMAT unit personnel said “Through this exhibition we can show to the public that not all fire appliance are used to fight fire or respond to accident but we can show them that BFRD role and jobs are wide which include handling and tackling hazardous materials”. He also added that during the exhibition students and visitors are asked to wear the Chemical Protective Suit (CPS) to give them experience on becoming a HAZMAT personnel.

The exhibition ends on last 4 November and in relation to that the UBD Student Affairs Section and PMUBD would like to thanks all exhibitors, staffs and students who had been involved in the UBD Career Fair and PMUBD Safety and Security exhibition 2009.

Last 14 October 2009, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) through its Estate office organize a safety and security day programme where facilitators from Brunei Fire and Rescue Department (BFRD) and Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) give talks on their respective fields.

 

The session started with fire safety talks which are held at the UBD Chancellor Hall Senate room for the English version talk and at the UBD Chancellor Hall Lecture Theatre for the Malay language version. The BFRD facilitators are led by Station Officer (SO) Noorzali bin Apong.  Both of the talk focused on fire safety especially at UBD Complex where the facilitators said that the UBD staffs and student must be aware of the fire exits , fire alarms and the first attack fire fighting equipment such as fire extinguishers and fire hose reel as the equipment. It is because the equipments will be handy or can minimize damage or extinguishing the fire before the arrival of firefighters.

The fire safety talk also pointed out that the new UBD Fire Marshalls which had undergo the fire marshall course to respond and conduct their duties as fire marshall during fire drills or in case unwanted accidents occurred. The fire safety talk concluded with a demonstration on how to extinguish the fire using the fire extinguishers.

After the fire safety talk the safety and security talk continues with the talk on Cyber Crime by P/ASP Ak .Omar Ali bin Pg.Mansor of the Commercial Crime Investigation Department, Royal Brunei Police Force. He touched that the scope of the cyber crime is wide from online scheme, fake e-mail notification and even to the usage of the Facebook and other social networks which sometimes can lead to criminal activities. He also touched that Brunei had the act which can be used to punish the cyber criminals such as the Computer Misuse Act 2000 (Chapter 194 of Brunei Law). Later the talk concluded with a question and answer session.

 

The UBD Estate office in their press statement said “The objective of the talk is to give the staff and student the importance of fire safety and cyber crime safety in everyday life. UBD Estate office through the UBD Student Affairs section also will sent a batch of students to attend the fire marshal course some where in December after the UBD Semester Examination”. The statement also added that one of the UBD Estate office responsibility is to provide firefighting safety service around UBD Complex.
